It’s Friday and that means it’s time for our #FriendOfTheFoundationFriday! We are showcasing one of the many businesses, organizations and individuals who work with the Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation and the amazing work that they do in our community and with the Foundation.
This week we are featuring our friend Laurie Hornell, board member and volunteer with the Foundation. Laurie has been a great asset to the foundation for years. She is a member of our Board of Directors and has provided her expertise and leadership to our Food for Thought Committee and Community Grants Committee.
Laurie shared a bit about her involvement with the foundation.
What brought you to the Cambridge and North Dumfries Community Foundation?
A past board chair encouraged me participate in the board and friends had welcomed me into the Food For Thought committee.
What is your favorite thing about the Cambridge and North Dumfries Community?
My favorite thing would have to be the fact that the Foundation is the most all- encompassing charity in Cambridge. There is no one in town who hasn’t benefited by the one or more of the areas of interest that CNDCF supports.
What are your hopes for the future of our community?
My hopes are for more exciting options for community participation, more activities and opportunities for teens, a greater appreciation of our amazing outdoor spaces, accessible events that welcome everyone to enjoy music, drama and culture. Most importantly, I hope that we are a city where everyone belongs and flourishes.
