This year’s award winner has been established in the North Dumfries community for more than 20 years, and has been an amazing supporter of community endeavours.
It began then, through the founding and sponsoring of “Christmas for Kids”, an annual Christmas party for local children, which was eventually taken over by the Optimists Club, but only because attendance reached 700! Soon after, there was the “Come to the Movies” initiative which involved the rental of a theatre and offering of free children’s movies in exchange for a donation to the local cub/scout troupe. This eventually grew to three theatres. When they were approached by a local fundraising group to support the building of an arena complex, they made a very generous $150,000 donation. They are strong supporters of the Ayr Centennials – Junior C hockey team, donating thousands of dollars annually. They have demonstrated their community spirit through donations to the Drumbo Museum and many, many local projects and events, including one called “Dinner in the Dark” organized each year by DeafBlind Ontario.
This company is truly a community trustee as demonstrated by their generosity and willingness to support when asked.
