This week we talked to Jennifer Taylor, the Director of Fundraising for the Ayr Curling Club. The Curling Club is a receiver of grants from the CNDCF within the last few years and they continue to ignite a passion for curling within the community through many different leagues and programs. We are happy to partner with the Ayr Curling Club and hope to continue to do so in the future!

Describe your organization in a few words.

The Ayr Curling Club offers curling and socialization for its members and the community from childhood to seniors. The Club has an active Junior Curling Program including ‘Little Rocks’ for the pre-teen and both social and competitive curling for teenagers to seniors. The Club is an active member of the Ayr and North Dumfries community and prides itself on supporting community initiatives.

Tell us how your organization is involved with the Cambridge and North Dumfries Community Foundation.

The CNDCF has supported the Curling Club over the years providing grants for many capital upgrades including the ice plant and last year for the legal site survey in preparation for a redevelopment and expansion to meet accessibility needs.

What is your favourite thing about the Cambridge and/or North Dumfries Community?

The support that each organization, the Township Council and the CNDCF give to each other for the betterment of all. We all seem to understand that by supporting each other we complement and build on our strengths so that the community as a whole is greater than the sum of each part.

How does your organization hope to make an impact on the future of the community?

By continuing to provide a social and recreational space for all ages. The long term goal to improve the facility will not only benefit the membership but the whole community by providing another accessible hall to rent suitable for family celebrations. We will continue to work cooperatively with community groups in support of their activities such as providing parking space for the Ayr Charity BBQ. All in the spirit of collaboration and cooperation.
